1. What has changed?

Smart Shopper is now going to be giving you personal discounts every week on products you buy most often. We are going to deliver personal discounts Just for You worth over R500 per year. You will get three personalised instant cash off discounts every single Thursday on the things you buy most often.

Of course you still earn points as a Smart Shopper, although you will now earn them at 1 point for every R2 you spend in Pick n Pay. Points you’ve already earned are not affected at all. If you shop regularly with Pick n Pay we think you will find these vouchers really good and very relevant to what you want to buy most often.

2. When will this change take effect?

30 March 2017.

3. How will this change affect customers?

We’re giving more back to our customers by providing personalised vouchers to them – every week. That means you’ll get instant cash off discounts on the things you buy most often. We’ll still be retaining the traditional opportunity for customers to swipe and collect Smart Shopper points. However, these will in future be at the rate of 1 Smart Shopper point for every R2 spent. Points already earned will not be affected. With the new personal vouchers, customers can now get over R500 a year in personal discounts.

4. Why are you making this change?

Our customers have told us that while they love Smart Shopper, they need more immediate help with the pressure they’re feeling from inflation, interest rates and utility increases. It’s our 50th anniversary this year, so we’re going to invest more than ever before in savings for our customers. This means being cheaper on the products our customers buy most often, as well as giving our customers personal discounts every week on the products they buy most often. We’ve talked to our customers all over South Africa and we’re confident that the vast majority of our customers are going to love the new Smart Shopper.

5. How many points do I earn now?

The rate at which you earn points has changed to 1 point for every R2 spent. (It used to be 1 point for every R1 spent.) Points already earned are not affected

6. What is the value of points now?

They haven’t changed. 100 points are still worth R1.

7. What will happen to the points I already have?

Points you’ve already earned are not at all affected.

8. How do I claim my personal discounts/ vouchers?

Customers can claim their personal discounts by activating them at the kiosk or on the app. They will then automatically get the discount the next time they buy that product and swipe their smart shopper card.

9. How do I check/ update my contact details?

You can check or update your contact details on the Pick n Pay app, using the Pick n Pay website or by calling the Pick n Pay customer care line on 0800 11 22 88. Make sure we can contact you by email so that you hear about the great offers we have selected just for you. When updating your contact details on the App, only tick off the methods of communication that you DON’T want to be contacted on.

10. If I don’t have an e-mail can I still get offers?

Everyone gets personal discounts every week. You can claim them from the kiosk in store or even easier, use the app. The App will also give you a view of personal discounts available to you. The email is our way of talking to you to tell you about them, so do update your contact details in the app, online or via our customer care line.

11. Will our vouchers still be given to us?

Yes. In fact we are making sure you have three relevant vouchers every week. You should receive more personal discounts than ever before on items you buy often.

12. Will we still get discounts on certain items? (instant savings)

Yes, Instant Saving will still be in store on hundreds of products to help you save.

13. Will our points still expire every year?

Yes, points are valid for 13 months.

14. Does Fresh Living still remain free as a Smart Shopper?

Yes!

15. My friend / family member got x and I didn’t, why not?

All customers shop differently. We try to give each customer the best offers for them based on what we know about them from their shopping habits.
